All-Gender Restrooms
at the Institute

All-Gender Restrooms

We are extremely proud to announce the presence of two gender-neutral/all-gender restrooms at the Graduate Institute in Geneva. These are located inter-petal; specifically, the hallway going down towards S7, S8, and S9.

Our mission is to work towards 50% of all restrooms at the Institute being all-gender restrooms. We will continue to work with GISA, the Gender & Diversity Commission, and appropriate Institute administration to continue furthering this goal!

In celebration of the first gender-neutral bathrooms, we threw a Gender (Neutral) Reveal Party with a lovely rainbow cake!

Updates on the All-Gender Restrooms: Recognition of inaccurate restroom signage

April 2021

Signage for the All Gender Restrooms in the interpetale inaccurately shows wheelchair access and access to diaper changing stations. Although our intent was to ensure inclusivity to all gender identities, our privilege in being able-bodied and not being student parents led us to be ignorant in ensuring the symbols accurately represented the facilities available in these restrooms.

We apologize for our imprecision and we will continue our education in order to be considerate and inclusive of all. We are currently in contact with the appropriate Institute staff and intend to have this resolved as soon as possible. Although the most favorable outcome would be making these bathrooms accessible in these ways, we unfortunately know this is unlikely.

Thank you to the community member who brought it to our attention and thank you to everyone who calls out our privilege as individual members of QISA and who hold QISA, as an initiative, accountable.

Anyone who would like to join the further process is more than welcome to contact us and contribute with their perspectives.
